PROGRAMS AND SERVICES
The Chicago 1st Black Inventors/Entrepreneurs Organization holds monthly meetings for its members. Each meeting features an expert presenter in areas that are relevant to the invention process.
In addition we offer the following workshops:
Patent Search
It is recommended that an inventor should attend the patent workshop before investing a substantial amount of money into your idea. At this workshop, you will learn how to research your idea for any similar patents that may have been issued or that pertain to your concept. Each workshop is conducted by a patent attorney who will instruct you in how to perform a patent search.
Provisional Patent
This workshop is provided to help inventors if you are unable to afford an attorney to file for a full patent. At this workshop, you will be instructed by a patent attorney on how to prepare your own provisional patent.
Writing your Business and Marketing Plan
Every business needs a strategy. Whether you plan to sell, license or venture your patent, it’s a business and you need to understand:
- how to structure your business
- what industry your concept is part of
- how to market your idea within that industry
